EMX European Motorcycle Union Quad Cup Round 1
Location: Bielstein, Germany
“Gut Gemacht” John Mitchell!
3rd Overall After First Round of European Championship
Team ATV World Yamaha headed to mainland Europe this weekend for the first round of the EMX European Motorcycle Union Quad Cup at Bielstein in Germany. With a very fast and one liney track, team ATV World Yamaha rider John Mitchell knew there would be no room for error.

Race one saw John get off to a solid start, looking comfortable on his ATV World Yamaha YFZ450 Laeger’s. He showed awesome skills, passing fastest qualifier Jeremy Warnia and Frenchman Romain Couprie to finish in third place, behind Ricky Tordoff and Joe Maessen. John said after the race; “With such a one liney track, you have to be committed on overtaking. There is no margin for error on such a fast track and I’m pleased to have beaten some of the fastest riders in Europe.”

With no changes to his bike, John was in fifth
place after lap one of race two. Riding hard to close down the gap, he
made exceptional progress, passing his way into second place. Both John
and first placed Romain Couprie then pulled away from the rest of the
pack. John was flying and caught upto Couprie for a thrilling end to
the weekend's racing, taking second place.
John finishes the first round in third overall, just one point behind
Romain Couprie, making an excellent start to the European
Championships. Both John and Paul return to the UK for round four of
the CCM British MMX Quad Championships at Desert Martin in Northern
Ireland on the 9th July. Thanks again for all the support from sponsors
who along with their outstanding products have helped develop the team
race quads for the 2007 season.
