IOPD British Pro Class Quad-X Championship Round Three
Location: Armthorpe, Yorkshire
With excellent track conditions, this weekend’s action was at Armthorpe in Yorkshire for round three of the IOPD British Pro Class Quad-X Championship. Any doubts that the event would be called off due to heavy rainfall on the few previous days disappeared as the sun came out and the temperature soared.
Qualifying went well as John Mitchell and Paul Holmes came in second and third on their ATV World Yamaha YFZ450’s. John, currently leading both the CCM British MMX Quad Championship and IOPD British Pro Class Quad-X Championship was after a good result as he began race one. Unfortunately his quad overheated and he had to drop the race pace, still making sixth place. Paul Holmes was having an awesome race and took a confident second place, with Ricky Tordoff taking first.
Race two started well for both John and Paul as they made the top five
after lap one but disaster struck in lap two when John landed awkwardly
on a big jump and snapped the axle as the quad rolled over. John has broken his toe and aggravated his ankle however he’ll be
working harder than ever to get fit for his next race in two weeks time.
